Certified AI Product Manager / Product Owner · One day, live online

That story won't fit in one sprint. Now what?

For Product Managers, Product Owners and backlog owners. Bring a real backlog, because you'll be working on it for most of the day. Do your backlog work with AI, and be the one who can tell a draft that survives review from one that won't.

Skillbook SAFe LPM course was excellent. Good pace and course materials. Would highly recommend it.
Brian DonnellyClass with Hanna Hawthorn
SAFe is one of the Training 100% worth taking. All the participants were involved and taken into account since day1. Good pace and very, very interactive. We ended up feeling like a real team. I really hope we can see each other in training.
Laura CamposClass with Daniel Silverman
The 2 day workshop was awesome. Chris Harrison was my coach and he made sure all our questions were answered with proper explanations. Further preparation after the course helped me pass the exam with a good score of 98%. The training was the good first step which I would recommend for sure.

The advantage window

Someone in your product team is already doing this.

They spent a day working out which backlog tasks an AI can draft, and how to tell a strong draft from a weak one. Their stories now reach refinement in better shape, and people notice.

Today

It sets you apart.

Few product people check AI drafts against a written standard yet. Doing it well still gets you noticed in refinement.

Within a year

It is expected.

The tools get easier and your peers catch up. Using AI on the backlog stops earning any credit.

After that

It is noticed when missing.

Your stories still come back from refinement, and people start to ask why.

Your lead timeClosing

Waiting is a decision too. The same day buys you a head start now, or a catch-up later. Only one of those is worth talking about in an interview.

71%

of leaders say they would rather hire a less experienced candidate with AI skills than a more experienced one without them. Your résumé is being sorted before anyone reads your track record.

What you will be able to do

Backlog work, done with AI and checked by you.

A stakeholder sends a one-line request. Your backlog holds a story far too big for one sprint. AI will happily draft a story for the first and a split for the second. Would you put either in front of your team? You spend the day making AI earn its place in your own backlog.

01

Turn a vague request into a story someone can actually test

02

Split a story that is too big for one sprint

03

Write acceptance criteria that hold up in review

04

Read hundreds of feedback items at once

05

Size value and write benefit hypotheses

06

Judge ten AI drafts against a checklist you wrote first

You leave with
  • Six backlog prompts, tested and revised on your own work
  • Worked examples of weak and strong AI output
  • Your own checklist for judging AI drafts
  • A head start on your hand-in, using a story from your backlog
The class, module by module

Five modules in one day, most of it hands-on.

A live group class built around what Product Owners and Product Managers do most often. Everyone works on their own backlog. 300 of 390 minutes are hands-on.

01

Where AI fits in your product work

Sort two weeks of your product work into what AI may draft, help with, or never touch.

37 of 45 minutes hands-on
02

Building backlog prompts you can use again

Build six backlog prompts, revise each, and let a partner find where one first breaks.

50 of 60 minutes hands-on
03

Telling weak AI output from strong

Study six pairs of real AI output, then make a weak and strong pair from your backlog.

65 of 75 minutes hands-on
04

Checking AI drafts against your own checklist

Write your checklist first, then judge ten AI drafts of one real task, each with a reason.

77 of 90 minutes hands-on
05

Splitting a big story from your own backlog

Pick a story too big for one sprint and start your hand-in, with the marking guide open.

71 of 75 minutes hands-on
Tools

Use the AI tool you already have.

The class is not tied to one product. You need a working account on the AI model of your choice, confirmed by a tech check 48 hours before class. If you have none, you get a practice account.

How you earn it

Your own work, marked by a person who did not teach you.

One process for every American School of AI credential. You can read the standard before you pay. You can also fail, which is why a pass means something.

  1. 1

    Read the published standard

The standard and its marking guide are published before you enroll. Before you pay, you know what the class covers and how your work will be marked.

  2. 2

    Train live with Skillbook Academy

Skillbook Academy, an Authorized Training Provider of the American School of AI, teaches the one-day class live online.

  3. 3

    Hand in your own work

Within 14 days of class you hand in work built on one real story from your own backlog that is too big for one sprint. A marker who did not teach you reads your work against the marking guide, without seeing your name or employer. Any of the checks can come back Not yet. If it does, you fix it and hand it in again once, free.

  4. 4

Pass, and it is yours for 2 years

Pass, and you get your certificate and digital badge with a Certificate ID anyone can check at americanschoolofai.com. The credential is valid for 2 years.

I took the Leading SAFe course a few weeks ago and passed the SA certification right after. I have no words to describe the quality of delivery, information and content passed down to us. It was a great experience and two days flew by so quickly.

Questions

Answered.

Who is this class for?

A working Product Manager, Product Owner or backlog owner. You already own a backlog and decide what ships first. There is no prerequisite, and nothing in the class requires you to write code.

Which AI tool do I need?

The one you already use. The class is not tied to one product. A tech check 48 hours before class confirms your account works. If you have none, you get a practice account.

What do I bring, and what if my employer says no?

Bring one story from your backlog that has been carried for two or more iterations, with its history, plus five other backlog items. If your employer will not let you use real material, you work on a practice set we supply and say so on your cover note. It is marked the same way.

How is my work marked?

Within 14 days of class you hand in work built on one story from your own backlog. A marker who did not teach the class, and who never sees your name or employer, reads it against the published marking guide. Each of four checks gets Not yet, Pass or Strong. You pass with Pass or Strong on all four. Your result comes back inside 10 working days.

What if my work comes back Not yet?

You get written feedback and one free chance to fix it and hand it in again, inside 14 days of the mark.

How long is the credential valid?

2 years. The valid-through date is printed on your certificate. Anyone can check it at americanschoolofai.com with your Certificate ID.

Can I book seats for my team?

Yes. Up to four people from one company can join a public class. For a bigger group, ask about a private class for your company.

Where does this lead?

Pass, and Certified AI Integration Manager is open to you: two days on work that crosses teams. Pass that and you can take Certified AI Adoption Leader (AI-AL), three days, which prepares you for the roles employers post as AI Enablement Lead and AI Adoption Lead. Nobody skips a starting credential.
